Hi, I have an 87 Buick Electra with the 3.8L engine & FWD @183,000 miles. The new engine has approximately 73,000 miles on it. For the last 10k miles i've been experiencing a running problem at idle. The engine just sounds like it's choking up and on occasion the engine will die, especially when it's warmed up. The only code i'm getting is for "EGR Problem" and now & then a random misfire. So far i've replaced the EGR valve, lower intake gasket, plugs, & wires. I've also recently in the past year replaced the ignition module, coil pack, throttle body, and vacuum to t-body rubber boot. I've been told by a mechanic that my fuel pressure is good which rules out the fuel pump & i'm told that all of my fuel injectors are working properly. I've had suggestions that I may need a valve job but I have had a cylinder leakdown test done & i'm told my cylinders were 100% sealed. Any ideas?

Hi:
To me it sounds like a vacuum leak. I would check for disconnected or damaged vac hoses. Also, check for an intake leak.

Let me know what you find.
