A/C Compressor & Water Pump...

It would be a challenge! I don't think they damaged the water pump. What are the symtoms?

At 9:30am yesterday the car was brought to the shop. I had no plans so I decided to hang around while the A/C repairs were being done.

Around 2:30pm I was told the car was ready and cooling fine. While writing a check the mech. that did the work came in and told me the water pump was leaking. I told him thanks for telling me. A few minutes later he comes inside again and say's it's a pretty bad leak! And I should have it repaired now because it possibly would empty the radiator and cause major overheating problems.

I've been around car's all my life. So when I heard "Bad" leak I went out to take a look. To my surprise the water was pouring from the water pump. When I asked what happened he said, I put new pump for you Cheap? lol...I asked him why didn't he bring up a leaking water until 5 hours later and after he put the car back togther? I couldn't get an answer to my question. The manager came out and looked and then told me I need to check these type's of things now and then. I asked him if he thought he was talking to a fool? I did not have a leaking water pump until they replaced the a/c parts. No water leaks on my driveway or any other place. I asked him to explain why such a large leak wasn't noticed until 5 hours later....? At that point he started getting loud. I asked him what we should do? He said he wasn't going to do anything and walked off. I went to the front office, got my key's and was getting in the car when he approached me again telling me, "They No Break". So I asked him again... what should we do? And Again, he started getting loud. I told him I wasn't arguing with him and if the engine over heated on my way home there was going to be a large problem.

I made it home ok but I wanted to ask it was possible that in tightening a belt or prying on the pump could have caused the seal to start leaking.

Other than the water pump strangely starting to leak.... they did a great job with the a/c repair.
