2003 Buick Century Car is making a propeller plane noise in

Does it change when you make turns?

I'm trying to figure out why the car is making a propeller plane like noise when I get over say 45 MPH.

I have the same exact problem with my 2003 Buick Century as well.

And to the person that replied and asking if it changes when making a turn, in my case, almost all of the noise disappear when I make a right turn or even a slight turn while driving. Turning left does not change anything. I hear buzzing noise on the right side, front of the car.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If the noise changes when you make turns, the problem is most likely a wheel bearing. Actually, a right side wheel bearing to be exact. If you can tell if the sound is coming from front or rear will determine which one. It's usually the front.

Think about it. When driving straight, the vehicle weight is equal on each tire. When you turn right, most of the weigh moves to the left side of the vehicle removing it from the right side. If the sound goes away, that is because the bearing no longer has as much pressure on it.

Thanks for the reply. You're right on! I asked a friend who knows a mechanic and suggested the same thing...wheel bearing. What you said about the weight distribution made a lot of sense.

To be honest, I was skeptical that I was going to get any help/advice from 2CARPROS that is going to help me with my car problem. Now that I have you guys and another mechanic confirmed what I suspected the problem was, I could get the parts and do it myself. Since that's going to save me money I would like to make a donation to the site. It's going to be a small donation because I'm currently unemployed, sorry.

when i first bought my buick, it was making that sound and I ended up having to put a fly-wheel on it.

Those do fail occasionally as well.
