I want to flush my coolant with a do it yourself kit. I am worried about cutting the hose and causing worse problems.
I read that flushing the system with tap water will kil your car. Is this true? I want to cut the heating hose, and put in the T pipe and attach a garden hose that will flush the system. Any ideas or suggestions? Oh, and my coolant looks very dirty. Under the radiator cap it is sludge.

You can do it. Make sure that you read the directions prior to cutting any hoses. Find the hose that is going into (not the one coming out) the heater core, find a section of straight hoses, cut and attach the "T" on that section.

No it won't. What will kill your engine is if you run pure water in the engine, without any antifreeze.

Prior to running the garden hose through the engine, drain your radiator first. ***NOTE: It is illegal in many localities to drain antifreeze to the ground. Antifreeze must be disposed off properly per your municipal regulations***
