Engine Cooling problem
2000 Buick Century Automatic 90,000 miles

Hi. The coolant light on my 2000 Buick Century has been turning off and on intermittently. The temp. gauge does not indicate any overheating; it stays below the 1/2 mark. The mechanic said that it is seeping coolant and needs a new intake gasket. It is not seeping very quickly; the dip stick is still showing full months later. Given the car's age (and the fact that I will have a hard time affording the repair), my husband doesn't think we should get it fixed. He wants to just keep the coolant topped off. I have heard this may damage the engine, but I basically just want the car to make it through another six months to 1 year. Will it necessarily damage the engine or does it depend on the site of the leak? Given that the car is demonstrating no other problems, is it possible to wait on the repair. Thanks!

As long as you keep tabs on coolant and oil should not cause damage. Add coolant stop leak to radiator AlumniSeal good product.
