Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Buick Century V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Was driving with cruise control set at 60 and given a ticket for doing 73. Officer said that I could get it repaired and bring the reciept to court. What do I need to do/ask for? Can I do this myself? Is it the cruise control or the speedometer?
