Transmission problem
2000 Buick Century Front Wheel Drive Automatic 57000 miles
I was having troubles with my transmission going into a hard shift after it warmed up - I took it to a car repair and the transmission was overhauled (under warranty still thank goodness) - however, after the car was returned I continue to get three lights coming on now and then (not continuous) service engine light, anti-lock, and trac off lights - I took it back but lights were not on at that time and they could not replicate issue - I heard from someone else they had a similar issue after a transmission overhaul and after many times of returning the car they ended up resetting the "computer" and then they no longer had issues - I asked my repair if they had done this but didn't get a straight answer - my question is...does the "computer" have to be reset after a transmission has been overhauled...thanks.

no the computer does not need to be reset. you quite possibly have a different problem or one that was inadvertantly caused when the transmission was rebuilt. the computer should have stored a code. how long after the lights went off did you return for service? how long were the lights on for?

the three lights come on at various times and stay on until I turn the car off - sometimes they come on when I leave for work and stay on until the car is turned off but if I start the car up again they don't come on and it is not a daily thing - one day they come on the next day they don't

the codes should still be stored in memory, take back to the shop that did the transmission and have them recheck it again, be a pain in the neck if you have to.
