1999 Buick Century driver door window switch wont work

this problem comes and goes but it has been like this for two days now the driver side door window switch wont work and when it wont work it makes the rest of the switches on the other doors not work the only thing it does is a buzzing sound when i push driver window switch down the rest of the switches don't do anything could you tell me what this problem is and posibly how to fix it

Your drivers side switch is a master switch for the rest of the doors. Inbetween the door jam is a plastic/rubber tube that contains a wiring harness.

The wires in this harness frequently get cracked and broken. (From the door being constantly opened and closed, especially in cold weather)

If you're handy with a digital multi-meter, then you can probe these wires for continuity. What you'll do is first take off the switch from the door. Then unplug the connector. Then connect the positive lead of the meter to the ground side of the fuse for you window circuit. Then use the negative lead to probe each wire that goes to your switch. (The one for the main/drivers window)

If there's no continuity for one of those wires, then you narrow down where the break is by poking the negative lead through the wire until there is continuity. That's where your break is. Just splice in a new wire.

If you aren't handy with a meter, then you'll have to take it into a shop.
