1998 Buick Century Leaking fuel line under the car

Gas dripping from rusty steel fuel line. Fuel injected V6. All three are bad in the same section by the gas tank. Rest of lines look OK - not much corrosion. Mechanic says replace all metal fuel lines with ABS plastic - but gave estimate of ~$700. Haynes manual offers no help.

Any options or pointers? I've worked with flammable liquids and vapors, various piping for many years-just not under the car. Has anybody out there done this before? Thanks.

you can buy the abs plastic yourself and put it on. or go to another place. that price is very high.

or if you wanna cheap out buy some seal all and put that stuff all around the leaking places in several layers. shouldnt leak after that

Did a little more checking - opted to do the job myself. Stripped out all fuel lines and brake lines.

Going back together with no problems. Local auto parts stores here carry only black nylon or black rubber tubing as replacement lines for fuel injected systems, so replacing the metal lines with the black nylon.

It's been a good job: learned a few more things about brakes & fuel system, saved $$$, and could buy a couple more tools......

Thanks for the help and no need to reply unless the nylon is a not a good choice for under the car.
