1998 Buick Century Blower doesn't work

There could be a few problems. First, the fan motor itseld may be bad. Next, the switch may be bad. (How have you determined it is good?) Or the blower motor resistor may be bad. When it happened, was the motor making any strange noises? Also, did you check the fuse?

i am ssuming the switch is of since the display seem to work I can adjust the temperature, fan speed, etc etc... but the fan doesn't run at all, any ideas in how to troubleshoot the switch, also the fuses seem to be ok, are there any fuses under the hood that I should look?

This is going to be hard to explain. First, you will need a test light. Try to locate the blower motor resistor on the firewall of the car. It will be a plug with several wires going into it. You will need to check for power to the resistor from the switch. If you are getting power, the switch is most likely good. The next step would be to check the resistor for continuity. And finally the blower motor if the resistor is good. This will take some time. Once you get through checking for the switch, let me know. If you run into problems, email me back and I'll try to help you. It's difficult when I'm not there to see what is going on, but I'll try my best.

Some debri was found in the blower after this debri was removed the blower work ok. It does make some noise from time to time any ideas? can you apply w40 or something else for lubrication

Hi Tavi:

I'm glad you have it working again. As far as the WD40, you would have to remove the blower motor, take it apart and place grease where the armature (steel rod that everything is mounted to) rides in the bearing. Most of the newer cars' blower motors are actually rivited together; therefore, they really can't be taken apart very easily. If you hear a screaching noise, you're right. It does need lubed, but for all the frustration of removing it, I would recommend just replacing it.
