1995 Buick Century Shocks and struts

I was told that I needed shocks and struts plus an alignment for my car to cure a wobbly right front wheel and given a price of $686. The shocks and struts are original to the car.

My question is do I really need this and is the price a fair one?

The told me the sooner it was done the better and not to take chances going very far away.

No. However to be fair, communication can get lost along the way.

IF there was a strut at fault, a used unit may be a good fit based on the age of the car.

Struts should be replaced in sets when new ones are used because you want the suspension to have an equal and normal recovery. So I would have presented it to you as you need one side and I recommend the other side. It will need to be aligned. Or we can install a used one and align it.

Having said that I do not know the condition of them, there may be a valid reason beyond this.

I would really like to see how the strut is making it wobble, I would be more concerned about a mis-diagnosis. Auto repair employees are often offered a spiff or kick back if you will for struts/shocks. Maybe this isn't the case, but I would have a second opinion, or we can try to help you diagnose this.

You should cal the place and ask them specifically why all four corners need to be done and why the strut is causing that wheel to wobble.
