While dealing with a different problem, I noticed that the seatbeat solenoid was very hot, too hot to touch for any length of time - even with the ignition off. Is this normal? If not, what would be the problem? What is the function of this solenoid? There did not appear to be any change in the way the seatbelt worked when I disconnected the electrical connection.[img:34b85ec289]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/210642_buick_seatbelt_1a_1.jpg[/img:34b85ec289]

Thanks for the quick reply. It's just that an electrical device that is always on, even when the ignition is off, seems counterintuitive and suspicious. You'd think it would drain the battery, and being constantly so hot, would result in a limited life. I'd be more comfortable with reassembling the door if I knew for certain that this isn't a problem. Do you know what this component is called?
