I'm trying to avoid bringing my buick in for an expensive repair just because the ABS light and Brake light come on sporadically. I have already replaced 1 starter and I don't have the diagnostic tool to get the diagnostic codes. The rest of the car seems fine and it still has plenty of life left in it.
I've heard it could be a sensor or switch and would like to know how to fix this and be sure these lights only come on when necessary.

unfortunately dealers are the only ones who have machines that can read ABS codes. It can be a sensor/wire/anything. But if the other brake light is on then it is probably somehting else, anything from a parking brake being applied to having a bad master cylinder bad...
