I have a 1993 Buick Century, 3.3 engine that started making a loud noise on Monday. Local mechanic said it was either the water pump (which was replaced less than a year ago) or the tensioner pulley. replaced both and the noise is still there though not as loud. when I remove the belt, the noise is gone. got a shorter belt and bypassed the a/c and the noise is still there. the alternator spins w/o issue and no noise by hand. I am running out of parts to replace. Please help!

My hearing is no good as far as sounds. With the belt on and the engine running, I use a long shank screwdriver, touch one end to the accessory I'm trying to listen to and the other end of the shank against my head, close to my ear. I can listen, that way, it is louder. Just make sure not to get caught in the belt--pulley-- fan or anything. Safety is your responsibility.
