Turn on the headlites, turn the key to crank, watch the lites, if the lites go out or almost, it's usually the battery or cables. If the lites stay bright and no starter action, it sounds like an open circuit.

Did you try getting a jump, to see if the starter would crank? Some of the national brand autostores will check the charge in your battery and recharge if it needs it. If you think the wiring job caused the problem, you may have to undo it.
