i have a bad ac compressor pulley and ac hasn`t worked for a while. there is a diagram showing alternate belt configuration for with or without ac. can i use the belt for the 4 cyl. engine without ac on my 6 cyl. thus by passing the ac compressor?

It is not as simply using a belt meant for non A/C to bypass the A/C pulley. What you need to do is take a piece of rope and route is through all the pulleys that you need, make it tight. Measure the rope and go to your local parts store for a serpentine belt that size.

The original size was 4061073. For example, if the rope measures 95.5 inches, you will go and ask for Goodyear Gatorback 4060955. The number reads as "4" = serpentine belt, "06" = 6 ribs, "0955" = 95.5 inches. CAUTION: In your specific case, you need to replace the last four numbers with your measurement. If the store does not carry Goodyear Gatorback, as them to cross the number to whatever brand they carry. I hope I have made it easy to understand.
