Is the ABS kicking in is that what you are feeling? If so it sounds like you have a wheel bearing hub doing out which houses the sensor very common issue. Here are two videos to help you see which side it is and how to do the job:

https://youtu.be/rTtAnsOlZU4

and

https://youtu.be/ZgiPRG6jffc

Can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise, that would be great? You can upload it here with your response.

Please run down these guides and report back.

Cheers, Ken

within the past month ive noticed the abs system engaging once in a while on the front brakes when i would come to slow rolling stop just before stopping completely now its much more frequent almost every time i come to a stop just before stopping completely it kicks in even though i'm on dry pavement the pads are ok the rotors look fine its kind of hard to describe the sound but i'm pretty sure it has something to do with the abs system the suv stops but right at the end it kind a stutters and whines letting the vehicle keep rolling another foot or two does any one have any ideas why its doing this

Has the ABS light come on? If so have the system scanned to see if it stored any fault codes. This could be a wheel speed sensor going bad, thinking it is locking up and acting accordingly. Any growling or grinding noise in thefront end? When the se wheel bearings go bad (Hub assembly) it can creat issues with the ABS

in respnse to your answer no the abs light has never come on but the noise that occurs is not grinding more like a vacuum air like sound thebrakes work fine until you come to a stop and then it kicks in just for a few seconds then it stops

still sounds like the ABS is seeing a wheel lock up right before it stops. You may need to have a shop look at it so they can watch the wheel sensors with a scanner to see which one is seeing lock up.Does it do this every stop? or just over bumps?

Hi, I have a 99 GMC Yukon 4x4 109,000 miles with the 5.7 Vortec. When coming to a slow stop and applying the brakes, the ABS seems to kick in right before I stop. If you are moving and slam on the brakes on dry pavement they work fine. In snow when you slam on them the abs seems to work fine. The only time they act up is when you are almost at a stop. The pedal pulsates and feels like the abs kicks in. The brakes are in good shape( rotors, pads, back brakes, and all lines are good and fluid full). The ABS light is not coming on at all. Please help, Thank you.

help is on the way. the abs sensors have been recalled on your truck. the air gap between the sensor and reluctor wheel is too great causing wheel speed to drop to 0 mph wt low speeds, thus your abs thinks its skidding applying the abs brakes. contact your gm dealer with your vin number and set up an appointment. its free.
