The car has been sitting for about year now and after replacing the battery terminals it starts right up and sounds like new but when I got in to try and move it the brake pedal went all the way down with no resistance and it wouldn't shift out of park. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If the pedal goes to the floor, either you have a broken brake line, bad master cylinder... Check to see if there is brake fluid in the master cylinder. If it is empty, start looking for wet spots on the steel brake lines. Also, check rubber hoses to calipers, the calipers themselves, and wheel cylinders for leaks. If the master cylinder is full of brake fluid, chances are the master cylinder itself it bad.

Let me know what you find.

One more thought. Since it won't come out of park, check to make sure the brake lights are turning on.
