I replaced the rotors and brakes on front and back. I drove approximately forty miles and when I stopped the wheels were hot and I could smell the brakes. The brakes are working, but when I tried coasting to a stop I could tell it stopped by the brakes and I did not use them.

First determine if all four brakes are getting hot, just one of them, or some other combination. Did you add any new brake fluid to the reservoir?

When this happens again, stop on a slight incline, place a block about a foot downhill of one tire so you do not look funny chasing after the vehicle, then loosen the steel lines at the master cylinder. Watch if brake fluid spurts out and some of the brakes release. Let me know what you find.
