Brakes and caliper

I recently took my vehicle to the mechanics with a bad master brake cylinder. They are saying I also need a new caliper and rotor on my front passenger side. And that my wheel is locked. However to drive it there, was about a thirty minute drive. So my two questions are; 1) would I still be able to drive that distance if my whee was locked? 2) How do I replace the caliper and rotor?

Could be as simple as a bad brake hose.

Make it lock up.

Then open the bleeder screw.

Did they release?

If it did released,

It is probably a faulty brake hose, and not the caliper..

Sometimes If you allow old hoses to dangle with the weight of the calipers this may have accelerated the failure.

What may have happened, in this possibility is the hose(s) have deteriorated internally, it is allowing fluid to push on through, but then it sort of "check valves" and will not let the fluid back up/ retract as it should when the pedal is released.

This situation can occur without having been messing with the brakes, just one of those things that can occur.

Nope, I would not drive it with a wheel that could pull me off of the road or into oncoming traffic.
