Hi,

Replacing front brakes and rotors really isn't too hard to do. Make sure to get lifetime pads so you will never have to pay for them again.

You can expect front brakes to last approximately 25,000 miles. However, that can change based on driving habits and terrain.

To get you started, here is a link that explains in general how the job is done. You can use this as a guide.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-front-brake-pads-and-rotors-fwd

If you look at the attachments below, they include the directions specific to your vehicle for brake pad and rotor replacement.

Once the brake caliper and pads are removed, you will need to remove the caliper mounting bracket. There are two bolts on the rear of the steering knuckle that attach it. Remove the bolts, remove the mount, and then you will be able to remove and replace the disc rotor.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Are you talking about the retainer clip? part #14? Not needed, but it does quit the rattling the pads will do going over bumps..use a wire brush, or file to remove rust buildup under the clip. then tap it on with a box wrench.

I have deep grooves in my front rotors but very little wear on the disc pads. The dealer says this is normal because the pads are semi metallic. I don’t agree because the rotors will be destroyed before the pads ever wear out, I need to do a brake job.
