Brake lights fusing

Hello,

What exactly is going on? When you step on the brake pedal does the brake light fuse blow, or are your brake lights inoperative?

Hi, they thought it needed a new switch, which they replaced, brake lights were working but they fuse after 3 or 4 steps on the brakes. So definitely not the switch, I thought it would be a process of elimination but they seem to think because it's not fusing first time every time that it's a wiring issue that they may or may not be able to trace and which could prove costly, they are talking like I may as well scrap a 6 year old car!

Okay, so I think you are saying that the fuse for the brake light circuit blows after stepping on the brakes 2 or three times. Could you please double check the year, make and model of your vehicle for us. I can't find a listing for that vehicle in our reference guide. I know whats going on, but if I could pull up a couple of things on your vehicle it would make it a lot easier for whoever is fixing your vehicle.

Hi, yes that's exactly right. It's a Hyundai I10 PN13NHB 1.2L 5 door petrol.

I'm sorry, but we do not have a listing for this vehicle in our reference material, probably because it's not in the United States market. But from what you have explained to me I would look at the brake pedal and look to see if there if a Brake On/Off[BOO] switch. If there is is I would replace that as it is a perfect spot for an intermittent short to ground to show up. I have also included guides for finding a short to ground and finding intermittent problems in an automotive circuit for you. Please go through these guides, check for a BOO switch and get back to us with what you are able to find out. I hope that this helps.
