2004 BMW Z4 Automatic soft top problem

When I push the button to lower the soft top on my Z4 the button lights up yellow which usually indicates that the panel in the trunk is raised. Usually you must lower the panel in the trunk before you can lower the roof but even when I lower the panel it still lights up yellow and the top won’t come down. Any help would be greatly appreciated
