need to know best way to install air mass meter boot on 1999 z3 bmw inline 6 and check engine light is on could hole in boot be the problem

The boot is straightforward to install, but it does take special tools to get at the clamps and yes the boot could be torn and require replacement. The tool is a flexible driver that fits the screw clamps, it is 6mm. I suppose you could use a 1/4 drive socket to get on them.
