I have a 98 M3 Roadster. I am replacing the battery and I discovered there is no battery holddown. The battery just sits in a hole in the truck. There is a foam spacer to fill the hole. Should there be a holddown strap or something?

Hello,
Thank you for your reply but the picture is for a car that has the battery in the engine compartment. The M3 Roadster has the battery in the trunk below the deck. The hole the battery goes into has two holes in the bottom. One is for the hose to vent thru and one is in the dead center of the hole. There is no place to screw in a strap or holddown. I'll try and take a picture today.
Thanks

The manufacturer never put the battery in the engine compartment on the E36/7 cars. I may have steered you to the wrong place in the link, sorry, try this: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=CK93&mospid=48097&btnr=51_2384&hg=51&fg=65
