2003 BMW X5 OBD Codes P0172 and P0175

All was normal then the check engine light came on and the engine began to run roughly. The OBD codes that are stored are P0172 and P0175 System too rich on both bank 1 and 2. What should I be looking at as the probable cause of this issue.

Running too rich (too much fuel, not enough air)Possible causes include a bad O2 sensor, excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel pressure regulator or plugged return line), leaky fuel injectors, dirty air filter or restricted air inlet, or a defective coolant sensor that prevents the engine management system from going into closed loop mode.

Thank you for your quick response. I assumed that I would get an 02 sensor out of limits error code?
The air filter has been changed about 5K miles ago. I will check the resistance and connections of the coolant temp sensor. Again, thank you for your quick response.

I have the same issue...

In my case, the car will warm up slower than before. I removed air from the cooling system and it helped. Injector cleaner seems to improve the drive but does not fix it. I get hesitation at cruising speeds and tends to occur more frequently at low throttle.

These are also possibly caused by an air mass sensor that has gone out of range. Plausibility is I believe the term BMW likes to use.
