For some reason, the rear air suspension has become fully extended and the back of the car is now sitting at least 6 inches higher than normal, and the ride is so stiff it is unbearable.

I have checked all related fuses and replaced the battery in the hope of getting a quick fix. To no avail...

Why would the suspension fulley extend and how can I get it to return to normal?

Many thanks

Martin

There may be something wrong with the control unit and the only replaceable part is the relay that controls the pump. P/N 61-36-8-373-700. The system is readable for faults with the BMW proprietary software, you may have to seek out someone who has access to it.

Check the fuse for the air suspension. Fuse #87 in the trunk fuse box. I replace mine and the problem went away. Good Luck
