Engine Mechanical problem
2001 BMW X5 6 cyl Automatic 93000 miles

Recently replace intake sensor as suggested by Peake Code reader when SES light was on. As soon as it was replaced, E3 and E4 codes are reading along with Ca and C6 codes (all sensor related). Oxygen sensors have been replaced but still reads as problem and SES light comes on.

QUESTION IS: Why would the replacement of the intake sensor cause a reading for the E3 and E4 codes and SES light to come on if they were replaced just prior to the intake sensor. NOTE: No problems at all prior to the intake replacement and oxygen sensor replacements.

The intake sensor, what is that? Is there a part number? Do you mean the air mass sensor? Also the descriptions from the maker of the scan tool, E3 and E4 have no meaning to me.

OK, The replacement schedule calls for new pre-cat oxygen sensors at 100k and you used the OEM sensors from Bosch, you replaced a bad cam sensor and reset the faults and it still comes back, is this correct?

This could require a re-write of the software in the DME. Is there a campaign sticker in the drivers door sill? They are round and will have a number embossed in it and a punch for the appropriate operation, also there might be a campaign sticker under hood on the shock tower. Let me know.
