2001 BMW X5 intrument cluster led's

The instrument cluster LED's, have started to not completly fill out on the information display.
For example, when the millage is displayed, some of the numbers are not completly filled out.
Any idea?

The display is a liquid crystal that has back lighting and when the pixels start to fail, replacement of the entire cluster is required.
