1989 Other BMW Models Need Answers....

I have a 1989 BMW 735iL. Recently the power steering went from 'one finger steering' to what feels like rack and pinion. Is this the pump going bad? Or am i overlooking something? The fluids and belts are in good condition, I just cant figure it out.

I recommend replacement of the power steering pump first, get one from a junk yard. If you need to replace the steering box. I would only replace with a new unit and not a remanufactured one.
