Engine Mechanical problem
1999 BMW 750Li V12 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Car had been sitting all winter . I just charged the batteries and tried to start it . I got a light show , but the engine did not turn over at all . Batteries are new . Do I need to do any code thing , being that it sat for so long . Thanks

HI there,

just make sure that the battery terminals are clean & tight, if that is ok, the starter motor may be sticky you will have to check that power is at the main terminal and at the solenoid when on crank, if not the transmission isolator switch may be at fault,,

The `99 E-38 750 has drive away protection that may require realignment. This can happen if you let the car sit and let the battery go dead. I agree with Mark and you should recheck both batteries and consider their age and number of times they have been deep cycled for possible replacement, that car is far more battery dependent than what you might be used to. The realignment if needed will need to be performed at the dealer or an independant that has the proper equipment. ♥
