I'm having the exact same issue and/or thoughts. I'm hoping that the original poster will respond with success details. Can not open the trunk with either button or key. The motors are running (including hydraulics)...you can hear them and see the trunk "moving" a little. When attempting to use the key, nothing happens. Can't feel anything when turning the key where as i used to "feel" the mecahnisms(s).
