changed engine,put in for 'mot',failed on all emmisions,plugged up all leaks on exhaust,all is as it should be except the lambda reading is 1.285 when it should be 1.030,snap-on pc engaged says lamda's are 'switching'any ideas please on how to bring down the lamda reading?

Fuel control of a question mark, how interesting. More information is needed to answer this question. What is the VIN? 1996 had some interesting model designations and I need specificity!!

there is 'suckion' from a squareish shaped pipe section at the back(rear)of the engine,about 6-8 inches from the top of the engine to the left(as you look at the engine)hand side,it is a squareish hole and i've been told it could be the 'oil breather' pipe and because it may be blocked it is sucking in air which in turn could be giving me the symptums i have;running like a 4 pot not 8,little power,when the hole is blocked it courses the engine to smoke,the oil light comes on from time to time,oil level good.could this problem,if correct,cause the issues and high lambda reading?

Look at the PCV plate and the throttle plate profile gaskets for possible places to start.
