Transmission problem
1994 BMW 733i 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 150k miles

the trans wont go into 5th without stopping.Every once in a while it wii make a grinding noise if you put pressure on shifter when it is in another gear. The top plate where shifter fits into looks and feels loose.I would appreciate any comments about my problem thankyou.

The Issue your car is having may require the removal of the transmission to properly diagnose, and then repair of course. The model year you state is 1994, did you mean 1984? The 733 was an option from the E-23 chassis, not the E-32, so I was just curious.
