I have a BMW 540i and am getting a message after starting the car that reads "side 1 MTL NR" its not listed in the manual any ideas what it means?

Does the display have missing pixels?

I have not noticed any. I get messages like Lights on fasten seat belts and have not noticed any missing pixels. Then again I have not been looking for any either. I will watch when next I drive it.

That message sounds like corruption and not an actual indicator, I would disregard it unless there is something else going on.
