My 85 BMW starts fine, runs for about 20 miles on the highway, then stutters and fails. It will still idle, but not run past 3000 rpm. if it sits for 30-40 minutes, it will run again, sometimes doing it all over again, sometimes not. I have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs and fuel regulator. after I changed the regulator, it ran perfect for 1200 miles, then started all over again. It has 2 fuel pumps, 1 in the tank at the top (the "pre-pump") and the other next to the filter under the car. if this is a pump failing, which one do I start with? any help would be appreciated, thanks!
