the gas top was not placed back on properly.Icon appeared to insert properly now that has been done service engine soon is on. How do i reset that

A check engine light will require resetting with some sort of OBDII software compatible device. Autozone and possibly some other parts chains might be able to help you with free scanning, call and see.
