I am the very happy owner or a 1999 528i. It runs beautifully but it has recently picked a small but irritating niggle. Having only done c50,000 miles I am hoping that it is nothing major
I keep getting a short, low muted bleep that seems to emanate from the rear of the car. This only tends to happen when the attitude of the car is changed, e.g., slowing down under braking for a roundabout/junction, braking for tight bend etc and seems to happen when the weight is transferred to the front of the car and then settles.
I don’t hear the sound when travelling on long flat roads e.g. motorways it is purely when the attitude of the car changes.
I have put the car in for a non-franchise service but they are unable to find the source. I don’t think it comes from the brakes or the suspension – does anyone have any ideas?
