The local BMW authorized Service Center said the transmission oil was burnt and that I would need a $5300 new transmission. The car with a workable transmission is worth $7,000 and I am having trouble selling it for $4500 with it advertised "Transmission Warning Light Comes On". The transmission does go in and out of safe mode. Is there anything that I can do ??????

You could shop around for another price on the tranny, $5300 seems a bit high since the cost of a remanufactured transmission from BMW is $2500 and it takes about 7 hours to install it, I have done that job and it is not that tough. Or call for a used tranny.
