On my way to the airport yesterday, my 2000 BMW 528i overheated (temp gauge in red - car never stalled). At the same time, the battery warning light came on and the power steering went out.

Since I was very close to the parking garage, I coasted in and found a spot. Tomorrow evening I will be returning and i'm hoping I don't have to call a tow truck. Any advice on what I should check? Is there a belt that could have broken and caused these simultaneous failures?

Thanks!

Yes, the belt for the alt/water pump/power steering is possibly broken. Don't drive the car. Have it towed to a repair facility.
