the other day, the car overheated. One mechanic told us that the radiator was cracked and that radiator and the head gasket needs to be replaced. Another mechanic told me that this repair of the head gasket would not work, that the head would not be able to be rebolted to the engine and that the only way to resolve this was to put a new engine in. Can you tell me which one is right?

The level of damage has not yet been determined by the report you provided, so I would need more information to make an intelligent and informed response. Has the engine been condemned? If so, for what reason? Have the threads pulled out? At 90k miles with an overheated engine, I would say the possibility of a cracked cylinder head is very high. If during reassembly with the original block and a good cylinder head, the cylinder head bolt threads in the block pull out, then a new motor is the next step. So it comes down to this, Choose a new motor or ?
