i have this 1988 528e car is in fantastic shape
and handles like a dream
my problem is my driver side door lock is not working
and i can not unlock with the key or from the inside
any suggestions on what the problem is ?

The locking mechanism for the central locking will require replacement. You will have to get the door panel off to get to the unit.
