Here's the situation...
Radiator was leaking, took the car in for a new one. Also had the valve cover replaced, as it was leaking also. The car was not overheating when I took it in, just leaking. Mechanic gave me the car back, as soon as it got up to temp, it kept going and started to overheat. I thought it could be the Cat Converter, which may have caused the leaks in the first place. Took the car back, he cleaned out the Cat, replaced the plugs and oil. Car runs great until it gets up to temp then begins to overheat again. What could this be? I'm hoping its the thermo or the water pump? What are the signs of head problems? PLEASE HELP!

Overheating and coolant loss are signs of a cylinder head problem, but I would go with something cheap and easy first.Try replacing the thermostat, it sounds like it may be stuck shut.Also be sure to open the bleeder on the t-stat housing and the radiator fill tank to let the air out that is trapped in the cooling system. If that doesnt fix it, have them do a chemical test for a blown head gasket, those older BMW's had some problems with the heads cracking, but do the basics first
