I have a 1989 525i which recently lost heat and then begin to overheated. When I pulled over and opened the hood antifreeze looked like it was squiting out of a hole in the Idle Control Valve. Is this possible, or is there something else there that I may have missed?

You might wanna start by replacing the thermostat-coolant coming out of the idle air control valve is an indication of a major trouble-could be the headgasket cracked head or block and intake manifold leak

The M-20 motor uses a throttle body heater, cap off the hoses or replace the gasket of the heater cap at the throttle body.
