I have a BMW 525e 1987 model that has travelled about 310 000km. It is a 5 series with 6 cylinders. The amount of petrol it now consumes is twice its specification. It is 15 litres in 100 km while it should be 7.5litres per 100km. It's spark plugs have just been replaced and the caborn oxide it emits is still normal. Can you please tell me what the problem could be.

First of all you should have the car scanned to help pin point the problem, it will probably tell you that your Mass Air Flow Sensor is out of range. A couple of things can cause this. 1. You have a tear in your air intake boot, inspect to replace as needed 2. the MAF sensor itself is operating out of range and needs to be replaced. Please check it out and get back to us, thank you for visiting 2Carpros.com
