Hi, I have a bmw 95 525i with around 100,000 miles. I picked it up just recently and within the last 2 weeks have noticed a small oil leak towards the back of the car on the ground when it's parked. Today, when driving, my check engine light came on. I checked my oil and it looked low, athough hard to tell, so I added oil. I got the car up on ramps so I could see under it and noticed that there was a lot of oil-like sludge on a lot of the underside. The oil pan appeared to be wet around the middle with oil but I couldnt see a crack. The plug also appeared to be fine. I noticed a line of oil coming from what appears to be the back of the engine further to the front of the car above the oil pan. How can I further diagnose this problem myself with going to a mechanic.
