How do i set the alarm and also to make the lights flash when activating or deactivating the alarm

The settings are adjusted by either the dealer or someone with the equipment to do so, it requires access to the car/key memory and cannot be done by mere mortals. Do you have a BMW repair facility that has been doing the regular service on the vehicle? They may be able to help you. Also, does the car have an alarm installed, they are not standard equipment on any E-46 bodystyle in the North American market, you have to pay extra and have it installed/coded to the car.
