I was driving home the other night and the engine died. It was at low rpm when I was turning a corner. car will not start. Car has spark and backfires a little.
Was thinking possibly timing chain broke, but removed valve cover and timing chains are tight, but it looks as if the cams are not aligned at TDC at the same time. Has anyone heard of this happening? Could it be the cam position sensor? Or the Vanos unit? No abnormal noises and up to the point when it stalled no issues. Please help!!

Sounds like the fuel pump is Kaput. Did you check fuel pressure? There is a Schroeder valve on top of the fuel rail, check it there
