1998 BMW 328 camshaft tensioner

Engine Mechanical problem
1998 BMW 328 6 cyl

Had my head replaced on my 1998 BMW 328ic do to a overheating issue. Almost immediately after getting the car back, it started making a loud noise at starting. Took the car back and now the same mechanic wants $500 to replace the camshaft tensioners. Should he have noticed that when he did the head? Do you think it should be covered under his labor warranty as an oversight, or am i mistaken? Help!

One of the issues with cyberspace is that sound does not translate well through this medium. I cannot tell what the noise is from here and the technician that performed the repair may well be innocent, or not. $500 seems too much to replace something that just screws in, if we are talking about the same part. There is an intermediate chain tensioner as well, is that what we are seeing here? It would be on the technician if the part was damaged during their repair efforts, like I said, it is difficult to discern from where I sit. Can you respond with some more detailed information?
