1992 BMW 325i E36, 156,000 miles. Last week the steering column made a (1)clicking noise when I steered left. I thought it was the turn signal. The sound is also similar to a solenoid clicking. This went on for four days, just a single click when I steered to the left. However today while backing out of the driveway, the clicking was nonstop and occured regardless of the steer direction. to I appreciate any suggestions as to the probable cause.

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SIGNAL SWITCH FALLING APART
AND ITS TIME FOR A NEW ONE

IF YOU PUT THE LEFT/RIGHT SIGNAL AND TURN THE STEERING DOES THE SWITCH SHUT OFF
GOOD LUCK
